Your Support is Needed for our Emergency Crowdfunding 2022!

【An Urgent Donation Request】

We are aspired to help vulnerable children in Rwanda, each and everyone of them, affected by the genocide and

struggling in poverty, so they can fulfill their own dreams. For them to break the Generational Cycle of Poverty,

we really need your help to ensure these children of future seeds can continue their school education in a stable

environment. Your donation is vital for helping the children achieve their dreams and sustain their hope for the

future! Please read and join us as a partner to support their dreams of higher education to live their lives in

independence! Will you reach out your hands in helping these children thrive their learning and growing to go on

to higher education they really wish for?

It is true to say, “Education is a basic human right, yet those who need it most — the children living in poverty —

are the least likely to attend and complete school.” (build On)

That is why the admin and capable teachers of Samaritan International School all are working earnestly

everyday to facilitate the children's learning to deliver excellence in education officially acknowledged by the

District of Nyagatare, even during this financial emergency, for they are making the Impossible Possible.

We urgently need your help as we are launching an emergency crowdfunding from June 10 to July 10, 2022 in a month to raise 15,000 CHF (15,000 USD) so that 60 children can be ensured to attend school in the next year 2022/2023!

Faithful to our mission

The mission of Rwanda Children's Hope (RCH) is "to break the cycle of poverty through education".
We hope that by providing education to the poorest children, we can create a brighter future for them.
In Rwanda, if children are unable to continue kindergarten or primary education, they are left with no choice but to work as low-paid day laborers or apprentices. Therefore, We are very eager to provide educational opportunities for those who want to continue their education but are not able to attend the school due to financial reasons.

The Samaritan International School, a private school for children living in the Nyagatare District that is fully supported by RCH, provides scholarships and quality education to children who want to attend school but do not have the opportunity to do so due to poverty. Orphans, street children, and children from the poorest and most children from impoverished and needy families cannot continue to attend school without the help of donations. The feelings of our supporters are directly linked to creating a future for these children.

RCH's scholarship program was initiated in 2008 as a joint initiative of Rwandan and Japanese volunteers. Since then, the program has been managed and implemented by local Rwandans. The decision makers for many aid organizations in Rwanda are foreign nationals. Many aid organizations in Rwanda are run by foreigners, which makes it difficult for Rwandans to make decisions by Rwandans for Rwandans. In this context, RCH supports the scholarship program by respecting the voice and will of the local people and by building local capacity.

Providing quality education for children living in poverty

The first crowdfunding campaign utilized the READYFOR platform in 2016, we succeeded in raising a total of 1,121,000 yen (8,565CHF, USD) in support, which is more than 160% of the total amount. In addition, the second round of crowdfunding, using RCH's own website, was successful in raising
a total of 2,061,411 yen (15,751CHF, USD), 80% of the target amount. With this support, 82 children of Samaritan International School were able to go to school. We would like to thank those who directly supported this crowdfunding campaign, those who encouraged and advised us for the successful campaign, and those who personally helped spread the word about this campaign, in the midst of the devastation of the new coronas. Without your support and presence, we would not be able to provide schooling for 82 children until the 2021 school year.

Thanks to our supporters, RCH has been evolving each year. Up to year 2022, we have been able to provide 78 scholarships for primary, secondary and university students (including students of Samaritan International). In 2021, RCH was established as a general incorporated association. In addition, in order to improve the quality education at Samaritan International School, JICA Fund has been providing coaching, textbooks, and classroom learning charts to improve the quality education since 2020.
As a result, in July 2021, students at Samaritan International School achieved the top score in the National Common Elementary School Graduation Examination, enabling them to go on to higher education of their choice that will break the negative cycle of poverty.

More help is needed!

In 2016, Samaritan International School was opened in the Karangazi area of Nyagatare District. However, in 2020, with the construction of a new airport Karangazi District, Samaritan Internatioinal School received a request from the Rwandan government to relocate the school and the village, including the homes of teachers and staff, to a government-designated site.
In 2021, the current school building is demolished, and the school is relocated to Nyagatare in September 2021. The new school building is eagerly awaited by everyone.
The compensation required for the construction of the new school building, for which everyone is waiting, is still being patiently negotiated with the designated government agency.
Until compensation is received, Samaritan International School will have to cover the cost of the temporary school building and rent for 5 teachers and 11 students with its own operating funds.

While the relocation of the village required a complete change, Samaritan International School did not give up and did not leave a void.
Samaritan International School accepted 103 children from the poorest families who could not afford school fees and who wanted to attend school. And in 2021, the children were among the best in the country in the national exam. In April 2022, Samaritan International School received a certificate from the mayor of Nyagatare for the best school in the country.

As of May 2022, the number of students has decreased from 315 previously to 98 due to the relocation. Of that number, 38 are self-funded and the remaining 60 are in need of scholarships.
In order to continue to provide quality education to these 60 students as before, we have organized our third crowdfunding campaign. Our goal is to raise a total of 15,000CHF(USD) or 1,500,000 yen for 60 scholarships between June 10 and July 10, 2022. Thank you very much for your warm cooperation!
